Nicola Higgins

I studied Midwifery at Oxford Brookes University and have enjoyed working as a Midwife in the John Radcliffe Hospital since 2004. I have worked in all settings of midwifery care, but was initially interested in research following my role as a Bereavement Midwife on Level 7.

I joined the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2008 to help create a Biobank of pregnancy samples. The Oxford Pregnancy Biobank with 70,000 samples, has enabled researchers to establish new diagnostic biomarkers for pre-eclampsia and pregnancy related problems.
