I completed a degree in Divinity (MA Hons) before becoming a qualified midwife in 2013. Whilst practising midwifery in central Manchester I won a place on the HEE/NIHR research internship, undertaking a six-month research placement at the University of Manchester. My time on the internship was spent reviewing how peer support programmes may aid women's recovery from obstetric fistula in sub-Saharan African settings, with this research experience helping me to win a place on the NIHR-funded MSc in Clinical Research at the University of Leeds. My dissertation for this Masters was a piece of qualitative research investigating the use of interpreters in England's maternity services.

I am currently working on studies evaluating the use of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in both singleton and twin pregnancies.
